At the age of 10, Xianquan Mu began to play trumpet and Brass Quintet. In 2006, he began to study Tuba with Professor Li Dali of the Affiliated Middle School of Shanghai Conservatory of music. In 2008, he was admitted to Shangyin affiliated middle school. He continued to study with Professor Li Dali and began to study Brass Quintet under the guidance of Professor Chen Jiamin. He once won second place in the Shanghai Conservatory of Music Chamber Music (brass) Competition as a member of the brass quintet of the Affiliated High School of Shanghai Conservatory of Music. In 2011, he was admitted to the Shanghai Conservatory of music. He began to study Tuba with Russian tuba player Alexander Philppov, the principal tuba of the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra. In the same year, Xianquan Mu became the founder and tuba player of the North Brass Brass Quintet and held many special performances of the Brass Quintet. He also participated in the German Brass Art Week of Shanghai Conservatory of Music in 2015 as a special guest and was highly praised by the German brass ensemble and invited to perform with them in their concert. In 2015, he was admitted to the Shanghai Orchestra academy with a full scholarship. He began to study Tuba with Alan Baer, principal tuba of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. As a student of Shanghai Orchestra Academy. Xianquan Mu played many seasons of the concert with Shanghai Symphony Orchestra and get the opportunity to perform with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra while the orchestra tour in Shanghai. In 2019, he was admitted to the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati. While studying in the United States, Xianquan Mu was been selected as an associate member of the Chicago Civic Orchestra. Xianquan Mu recently won the silver award at the 36th Falcone international tuba and Euphonium competition. Xianquan Mu got his master's degree in CCM in 2021. He is currently a DMA student in CCM.
