Tenor David Santiago is a versatile lyric tenor that displays warmth, sweet overtones and agility and an expansive repertoire with a particular eye on character parts. In 2021 he joined Teatro Grattacielo’s Young Artists Program, Camerata Bardi Vocal Academy , where he will prepare and perform the roles of Fritz and Federico in Mascagni’s L’Amico Fritz. The 2020 season jumpstarted with high notes to the stage of Carnegie Hall, when Tenor David Santiago and “The Footprints in the Sand Foundation” celebrate his solo debut in the concert “A Journey from Bel Canto to Verismo” at the Weil Recital Hall. He has appeared as Edmondo in MANON LESCAUT, Prunier in LA RONDINE , Macduff in MACBETH , the title role "The Earl of Essex" in Roberto Devereux and Giannetto in the LA CENA DELLE BEFFE and Alfredo in LA TRAVIATA. In May 2020, David was scheduled to perform on the West Coast in a solo concert and a Benefit with other performers for the Children’s Cancer Association in Portland, Oregon following the mantra the “Healing Power of Music.” Unfortunately, the global pandemic put a hold on performances all over the world. In the 2019-2018 season, David Santiago made his directorial debut providing his expertise and theatrical roots with his stylized staging of opera scenes from “Carmen” with the Bravo Alliance of Performing Artist. A noteworthy accomplishment, David shared his passion for Opera by bringing it to High Point Market, NC. Together with Soprano Stacy Dove and pianist Benjamin Blozan in a concert titled “Bel Canto Gala”, presenting selections from L'elisir D'amore, Carmen, La Traviata and Cilea. Later that spring, he performed in Montclair, NJ, in a concert titled “Classical Spain: Zarzuela & Opera”, including highlights from the zarzuelas Maravilla by Federico Moreno Torroba and La Taverna del Puerto by Pablo Sorozaba, as well as nostalgic songs from Noel Estrada and Agustin Lara. David spent his summer savoring in the Oratorio Repertoire as a soloist for Masterwork Chorus performing the Mozart Requiem and covering the Verdi Requiem, with music directors Dr. Chris Shepard and Martin Sedek. Tenor David Santiago launched the 2017 Spring Season with the Bravo Alliance of Performing Artists Opera Gala Concert, a fundraising event to promote the performing arts in Bergen County, NJ. Together with sopranos Justyna Giermola and Michele Seprish, and maestro David Maiullo. Later this year, he added the role of Jaquino in Beethoven’s Fidelio and he revisited the role of Macduff in Verdi’s Macbeth. In the 2015-2016 season, David appeared in the Concert Paris: Part 1, featuring French Composers Bizet, Massenet & Donizetti, of which the “St. Suplice” scene from Manon was a highlight at Bickford Theather at Morris Museum in Morristown, NJ. The 2014 season found David performing with the Amici Opera as Edmondo in Manon Lescaut, Prunier in La Rondine, Macduff in Macbeth, the title role "The Earl of Essex" in Roberto Devereux and Giannetto in the Verismo Opera La Cena delle Beffe. David ended the season with his debut as Alfredo in La Traviata in Atlantic City, NJ. In past seasons, David made his Carnegie Hall debut in an event sponsored by Operafest, LLC featuring arias and duets. David also sung Don Jose in Peter Brook’s adaptation of Bizet’s La Tragedie de Carmen. He was cast as Nemorino in L’Elisir d’Amore and The Messenger in Aida with the Amato Opera. Other roles include Alfred in Die Fledermaus, Ferrando in Cosi Fan Tutte, Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor, Little Bat in Susannah, Fritz in L’amico Fritz and Max in Der Freischutz. He was a featured soloist with the Bravo Alliance of Performing Artists in Travelogue: Eastern Europe, a concert featuring composers from Eastern European countries. An avid recitalist, David performed a variety of works, which have included Benjamin Britten’s Folk Songs of the British Isles and Richard Strauss’s 6 Lieder aus “Lotosblatter”. His passion for the Italian repertoire has led David to perform Donizetti’s Composizioni da Camera, Bellini’s Tre ariette and Sei arietta, as well as programs which included compositions by Respighi, Pergolesi, Caldara and Tosti. In addition, David has also sung a program which focused primarily on songs by Russian composers Rachmaninoff and Tchaikovsky. Mr. Santiago is an alumnus of Mannes College of Music and during his studies performed under the baton of Maestro George Manahan in the Emmy Award winning production of La Boheme “Live from Lincoln Center” with the New York City Opera.
