Soprano Renee Macdonald is a young professional at the beginning of her vocal performance career. Named a winner of the Metropolitan Opera National Council competition for the Tulsa district in 2018, Ms. Macdonald is a recent graduate of Wichita State University, completing both her Masters in Opera Performance (2017) and the Certificate in Opera Performance (2018). Ms. Macdonald completed her Bachelors in Voice Performance (2014) at Western Michigan University in her hometown of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Ms. Macdonald was a finalist in the 2017 Naftzger Young Artists competition through the Wichita Symphony Orchestra, a finalist for her category in the regional National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) competition in the fall of 2016, and won WSU’s Concerto-Aria competition for the 2015-2016 school year. She has also been a student at the American Institute for Musical Studies (AIMS) in Graz, Austria, and WSU’s own Canta in Italia program in Lucca, Italy. Her past roles include the Contessa in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, Vitellia in Mozart's La Clemenza di Tito, the title role in Berlioz's Béatrice et Bénédict, Emilie Les Indes Galantes by Rameau, and Margaret in the musical Light in the Piazza with a book by Craig Lucas and music and lyrics by Adam Guettel.
