Bass-baritone Steven Berlanga resides in Salinas, CA where he performs locally, teaches at Youth Orchestra Salinas, maintains a private studio, and works with local wineries. He is finishing his doctorate in Choral Conducting at Indiana University, and has also studied at College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati, California State University – Long Beach, and Cabrillo College. In the genres of opera, oratorio, musical theater and concert repertoire, Mr. Berlanga has worked with Cabrillo Stage, The Opera Institute at CSULB, IU Opera, New Voices Opera, the IU Gilbert and Sullivan Society, Cabrillo Summer Chorus and Orchestra, the Santa Cruz Symphony, and the Arizona Philharmonic. As a choral artist, he has sung with professional chamber choirs in the United States, such as the Santa Fe Desert Chorale, The Thirteen, Kinnara, Exigence, Chorosynthesis, Brevitas, the Vocal Arts Ensemble of Cincinnati, BorderCrosSing of Minneapolis, and the Quartz Ensemble. As a conductor and educator Mr. Berlanga has worked with the Williston Northampton School Choirs, Indiana University Choirs, University of Cincinnati Cabaret Singers, CSULB Bel Canto Chorus, Cabrillo Youth Chorus, Fairfield County String Festival, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and the California Central Coast Orchestra and Jazz Academy.
