El Paso Symphony Orchestra

Celebrating its 90th Season, the El Paso Symphony Orchestra is the longest continuously running Symphony in the State of Texas. The El Paso Symphony is the largest arts employer in the region. Over 200 people work to produce each concert, of which 80 are musicians that are employed year round from all over the region. Artistic salaries paid to the orchestra are dollars which remain in El Paso. The EPSO contributes greatly to the cultural image and quality of life in El Paso, an important factor in attracting potential business to the city. Every year, patrons of the El Paso Symphony spend over $3 million dollars in event related activities like going to dinner before the concert or grabbing a drink or coffee afterward. EPSO attracts 90,000 annually to its programs; season concerts, education & outreach activities, Pop Goes the Fort and the Young People’s Concerts. Over 97% of EPSO musicians are educators in our region: private schools, elementary, middle and high schools, University of Texas at El Paso and New Mexico State University. EPSO provides a platform for our educators to continue to grow musically thus making them the best educators for our youth. EPSO acknowledges the rich diversity in our community and seeks to include people from every part of our community by continuing to expand its programming like adding pops concerts with a rock twist and performing at Biggs Park, Fort Bliss in Pop Goes the Fort. The El Paso Symphony has received both national and international recognition as a result of its very successful tours of Germany in 1996 and Turkey in 2000, and continues to represent the El Paso region with pride and distinction.
