Biography

Ms. Zallo was most recently named an Encouragment Award winner in the 2023 Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition Pittsburgh District. She will join Central City Opera as a Studio Artist for summer 2023. She is currently a Master of Music student at Carnegie Mellon Univeristy studying under Marianne Cornetti.

Biography

Alexandria Zallo

American Mezzo-Soprano, Alexandria Zallo  was most recently named an Encouragement Award winner in the 2022/2023 Laffont Competition (Pittsburgh District). 

 

Previously, she has also been named as a Semi-Finalist in the 2022 Annapolis Opera Competition and Encouragement Award Winner in the 2021 Metropolitan Opera National Council Audition South Carolina District.

 

The 2022 season included Ms. Zallo’s return as a young artist with Pittsburgh Festival Opera’s Hans and Leslie Fleischner Young Artist Program where she previously made her debut the year prior. 

 

While at Carnegie Mellon University,  she discovered a passion for chamber music and has performed many works including George Crumb’s Madrigals. In 2022, she looks forward to continuing to explore chamber music, which includes a World Premiere of Strange Child with the Kamratōn Ensemble. 

 

In addition, she has also sung the role of Dorabella in Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte and Juno in Handel’s Semele with Peabody Opera Theatre. Other notable credits include her Baltimore Symphony Orchestra debut in the semi-staged production of Hindemith’s Sancta Susanna under Marin Alsop and her debut with the Baltimore Concert Opera in their production of Donizetti’s Anna Bolena. She has also sung the roles of Suzy/Lolette in Puccini’s La Rondine, La Zelatrice in Suor Angelica and Midinette in Il Tabarro with the Peabody Opera Theatre.


 

She holds a Bachelor of Music from the Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University. Alexandria is currently pursuing a Master of Music from Carnegie Mellon University studying under Marianne Cornetti..
