Biography

Anneke Van Slyke

Anneke Van Slyke, a native of Syracuse, New York, is currently pursuing a Master of Music in Vocal Performance at Indiana University, where she studies under Jane Dutton.Most recently, Van Slyke appeared as the Knusperhexe in Hänsel und Gretel with Chicago Summer Opera. Earlier in 2024, she performed the role of Hanna Glawari in Lehár’s The Merry Widow with Baldwin Wallace Conservatory.

Previous operatic roles include Almirena in Handel’s Rinaldo with Chicago Summer Opera and Cornelia in Handel’s Giulio Cesare at Baldwin Wallace. While at Baldwin Wallace, she also performed the roles of Ruth in The Pirates of Penzance, Amore in Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea for the conservatory’s Playhouse Square debut. She also portrayed Public Opinion in Offenbach’s Orpheus in the Underworld at the Hawaii Performing Arts Festival. Additional credits include Bradamante in Handel’s Alcina (2021) and Amelia in the world premiere of La Casa de Bernarda Alba (2022), both with Baldwin Wallace Conservatory.

In addition to her operatic work, Van Slyke has been an active choral singer. She participated in the Baldwin Wallace Conservatory Bach Festival and served as a scholar for the Riemenschneider Bach Institute.
