Biography

Avery Vyvyan Avanti

Avery Vyvyan Avanti is an artist between worlds, drawing inspiration from the nostalgia of the baroque past to the briskness of the contemporary present and artfully manifesting bridges between them. As a composer, violist, violinist and viola da gamba player, she has collaborated with the top in the field, most recently alongside members of the New York Philharmonic and New York City Ballet. Avery advocates for trans voices in music through her work with NYC ensembles and her compositions, which are inspired by baroque, classical, and romantic music forms as well as black LGBT+ culture. Avery her composition debut will feature her Double Viola Concerto which will be taking place in March in honor of Trans Day of Visibility. She presently studies Viola Da Gamba Martha McGaughey and is a recent graduate of Manhattan School of Music, where she studied viola with Karen Ritcher.
