Biography

Chloe Descher

Chloe Descher is a flutist and educator based in Los Angeles, CA.  She recently received her master’s degree in flute performance from the University of Southern California, studying with Catherine Ransom-Karoly.  Chloe also received a bachelor’s degree in music from the University of Kansas, under the tutelage of Daniel Velasco.  She is currently the resident piccolo/3rd flute player with the California Young Artists’ Symphony, and plays with the Civic Orchestra of Los Angeles.  She has also performed with the Downey Symphony Orchestra, American Youth Symphony, Thornton Symphony Orchestra, Thornton Chamber Orchestra, and Edge Contemporary Ensemble. In addition to orchestral playing, Chloe enjoys playing a variety of chamber and solo music.

Chloe has performed at many music festivals such as Rocky Ridge Music Center, Flauti al Castello, and the Sunflower Music Festival.  She has also performed in masterclasses for renowned flutists Carol Wincenc, Leone Buyse, Paula Robison, Mark Sparks, Amy Porter, and more.  In competition, Chloe received 3rd prize at the Flute Society of St. Louis’ Young Artist Competition, and was a semi-finalist for the Naftzger competition.  She can be heard on the American Youth Symphony’s recordings of Kris Bowers Violin Concerto, and on the University of Kansas Wind Ensemble’s Album “Freedom from Fear”.  Chloe is a passionate teacher and has been teaching privately for seven years. She enjoys teaching both flute and piano lessons, and hopes to provide a meaningful and educational experience to all her students. In her free time, Chloe enjoys spending time at the beach, baking, and playing with her two cats, Oliver and Penny.
