Hailed for his “resonant baritone” (Texas Classical Review), Daniel Uglunts first debuted professionally with The Dallas Opera in the chorus of Puccini’s Tosca, later covering Miles in Britten’s Turn of the Screw. Summer 2025 saw Uglunts covering Silvio in Pagliacci with the Opera Festival of Chicago, assistant directing / performing Wilhelm in Corgliano’s Ghosts of Versailles with Miami Music Festival, and assistant directing / performing Count Almaviva in Le Nozze di Figaro with Northwestern’s Vocal Intensive Seminar. This Fall, Uglunts looks forward to performing Jupiter in Offenbach’s Orpheus in the Underworld with Northwestern’s Opera Projects for Undergraduate Singers (OPUS).

His operatic repertoire includes Ottone / L’incoronazione di Poppea, Sid (c) / Albert Herring, Pritschitsch / Die Lustige Witwe, Guglielmo (c) / Così Fan Tutte, The Loudspeaker / Der Kaiser Von Atlantis, Second Priest & Second Armored Man (c) / Die Zauberflöte, and The Policeman / Christopher Cerrone’s In a Grove (Midwest premiere), all with Northwestern Opera Theater. With Northwestern OPUS, Uglunts has performed Le Podestat / Bizet’s Le Docteur Miracle, Major-General Stanley / Pirates of Penzance, Bruschino / Il Signor Bruschino, Enrico / Haydn’s L’isola Disabitata, and Pandolfe / Massenet’s Cendrillon. Uglunts serves as the 2025-26 president of OPUS.

Additional roles include Guglielmo / Così Fan Tutte with Berlin Opera Academy and Opéra de Trois Rivières, Papageno / Die Zauberflöte with Miami Music Festival, Falke / Die Fledermaus with Northwestern’s Vocal Intensive Seminar, and Publio / La Clemenza di Tito. Uglunts has also stage directed Montsalvatge’s El Gato Con Botas with Northwestern OPUS. In concert, Uglunts has collaborated with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra Chorus in Schoenberg’s Gurre-Lieder, sung Dover Beach with the Chamber Music Society of Fort Worth, and presented Songs of Youth, a Junior Honors Recital at the Bienen School of Music.

Uglunts began his vocal studies at age eleven. Current and past teachers include Pamela Hinchman, Dolora Zajick, and Nancy Gustafson. Uglunts is a rising fourth-year undergraduate at Northwestern University, completing a dual degree in Voice & Opera Performance and Political Science/Data Science. He is fluent in English, Russian and Chinese.
