Biography

David Bogaev

In the 2025/2026 season, American tenor David Bogaev returns to The Dallas Opera as the Count of Lerma and a Royal Herald in their production of Verdi’s Don Carlo. He also performs with thecompany as a member of the chorus.

Last season, Bogaev made his debut at The Dallas Opera as the Prune Seller in Erhard Rom and Peter Hall’s production of La bohème.

Bogaev made his professional debut during the 2023/2024 season as Giuseppe in La traviata and Lackey 3 in Der Rosenkavalier with The Santa Fe Opera, where he was an Apprentice Artist. He also performed Ruggero in Puccini’s La rondine as part of the company’s Apprentice Scenes Program and sang in the choruses of Don Giovanni and The Righteous.

Additional stage credits include Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor, Leo in Regina, and Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi with UNT Opera, as well as Doctor Miracle in Bizet’s Doctor Miracle withThe Dallas Opera’s Outreach Program.

Bogaev was a finalist in the 2025 Lewisville Lake Symphony International Voice Competition. He also won first place in the Texoma Region NATSAA competition and was a semifinalist at the National NATSAA Competition in January 2024.

An active concert artist, Bogaev regularly appears as a soloist and recitalist throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex. He is also a frequent soloist at Texas Wesleyan University, where he has served on the voice faculty since 2023.

He holds a Master of Music from the University of North Texas and a Bachelor of Music from James Madison University.
