Biography

Gabrielle Salomon

American soprano, Gabrielle Salomon (she/her), has enjoyed performing in both the classical and musical theatre canon from a young age. Growing up in Lemont, Illinois, she was surrounded by a rich choral community that sparked her love for singing where she then began studying voice with Joseph Martorano. She received her undergraduate degrees in Vocal Performance and Music Learning and Teaching and a minor in History from Arizona State University under the instruction of Dr. Amanda DeMaris.

This past season, Gabrielle sang Gretel in the Phoenix OperaTunity Troupe (Hansel and Gretel Vs. The Witch) and sang as a chorister in the mainstage productions of La bohème and Aida at Arizona Opera. She has had the pleasure of singing at Victory Lutheran Church as the soprano section leader, where she also performed as soloists in Vivaldi’s Gloria and selections from Handel’s Messiah. Other recent credits include Mabel (The Pirates of Penzance), Barbarina (Le nozze di Figaro), and Anne Trulove cover (The Rake’s Progress). Another favorite concert engagement includes featured soloist in Phillip Glass’s Songs from Liquid Days.

Salomon is also a passionate educator who independently teaches private voice, piano, and ukulele lessons. She has classroom experience in high school choral and general music settings, as well as elementary school general music. Her love for education lies in elementary general music where she feels it is most important for students to shamelessly explore a variety of music genres through all avenues, like singing, instruments, and movement. Salomon believes grades K-6 is an imperative time for students to establish the role of music in their life. She loves to weave her love for opera and classical music into lesson plans that are digestible, relatable, and fun for young minds.

When off stage, Salomon enjoys being active by running and competing in local races. She also participates in recreational gymnastics. After being a competitive gymnast her whole life, Salomon reconnected with the sport in 2023 and now maintains her level 8 and level 9 artistic gymnastics skills where she also competes in Xcel Sapphire as a registered AAU gymnast. Her favorite and strongest event is the floor exercise, where she believes her passion for performing truly began. She always felt her personality could clearly shine through the choreography and tumbling passes she competed in front of audiences during her competitive gymnastics experience.
