Biography

(She/Her) Hannah Yim is the Assistant Concertmaster of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, which she joined in 2007, and Instructor of Violin at Tulane University. Ms. Yim has been a featured soloist and chamber musician with the Louisiana Philharmonic. She has also performed at the Trinity Artist Series, Bach Around the Clock, and the Marigny Opera House. Chamber collaborations have included Edgar Meyer, Bela Fleck, Pablo Ziegler, and Anat Cohen, amongst others.

Biography

Hannah Yim

Hannah Yim is the Assistant Concertmaster of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, which she joined in 2007, and Instructor of Violin at Tulane University. Ms. Yim has been a featured soloist and chamber musician with the Louisiana Philharmonic. She has also performed at the Trinity Artist Series, Bach Around the Clock, and the Marigny Opera House. Chamber collaborations have included Edgar Meyer, Bela Fleck, Pablo Ziegler, and Anat Cohen, amongst others. She has also performed at Jazz Fest, Voodoo Fest, and the French Quarter Festival. In 2010 and 2012, she shared the New Orleans Tribute to the Classical Arts Award for Best Chamber Music Performance. Ms. Yim is the founder of Harlequin Chamber Music and Radio Bird Quartet, for which she arranges rock and pop covers for string quartet. She views this as her most enjoyable and important musical work to date, with over 200 cover arrangements to date and growing. Ms. Yim currently spends her summers in Colorado, with the Breckenridge Music Festival and the Colorado Music Festival. She has also performed with the New World Symphony, Colorado Symphony, Lakes Area Music Festival, Mendocino Music Festival, National Repertory Orchestra, Louisville Orchestra, San Bernardino Symphony, and Evansville Philharmonic. Other educational and community outreach includes the LPO's Soul Strings, as well as coaching the Greater New Orleans Youth Orchestra and Community Youth Orchestra of Southern California, for which she was Artist in Residence. In her free time, Ms. Yim enjoys trying new restaurants, marathon-watching korean dramas, casual photography (mostly her three dogs), and fiddling around with making videos on FCPX. She is also a certified mixologist, amateur gardener, and salsa dancer. She is from Irvine, California. Ms. Yim completed her BMus and MMus in music performance from the Jacobs School of Music, Indiana University, where she studied with Alexander Kerr and Henryk Kowalski. At IU, she was a scholarship student and the recipient of numerous academic awards.
