Let’s collaborate! I am an Australian musicologist who has extensive experience in editing music sources from the seventeenth to mid-nineteenth centuries, and the practical application of rhetoric in music to performance. I am available to work on projects with early music specialists and performers of bel canto repertoire on editions of previously unpublished works to coaching singers and instrumentalists on various aspects of historic performance practice. Let's work together on your cadenzas and melodic embellishments, using treatises on music and rhetoric from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries as a guide to convey the emotional impact of musical moments, while showcasing your strengths as an artist. It would be an honour to play a small role in your preparations for your next production or concert. Let's get some cadenza and embellishment options ready for the next maestro you're working with before rehearsals start!
I am also available to write contributions for CD liner notes, concert programme notes, introductory material for editions, or any other forms of musicological research, as well as proofreading and copyediting of your written and musical materials.
I have performed extensively as a harpsichordist, fortepianist and organist, and as a singer with the University of Newcastle Chamber Choir, Newcastle Cathedral Choir, Newcastle Early Music Choir, Opera Hunter (Don Giovanni, 2005), and in several Newcastle Festival Opera productions: Così fan tutte (2007), Wonderful Town and Die sieben Todsünden (2008), Die Zauberflöte (2009), and La Bohème (2010).
In 2010 I was awarded a University of Newcastle Arts and Education Faculty Medal on completing a Bachelor of Music with First Class Honours.
