JILLIAN HOPE GRIFFEY is an up-and-coming soprano originally from Winston-Salem, NC. She is currently in her second year of her Master of Music degree at the Eastman School of Music where she studies under renowned tenor, Anthony Dean Griffey. In May of 2024 she graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts where she studied under Dr. Marilyn Taylor. Jillian has performed in numerous professional opera productions with Piedmont Opera, all conducted by Maestro James Allbritten. In February 2023, she performed in her first named role, “Eurilla”, in UNCSA’s production of Orlando Paladino by Haydn where she was hailed in a published review as an “audience favorite”. She also performed the role of “Vannella” in UNCSA’s production of Lo frate ‘nnamorato by Pergolesi in April 2024. In February 2025, Jillian was a part of her first production with the Eastman Opera Theatre in a staged production of Ned Rorem’s song cycle, Evidence of Things Not Seen. Additionally, she has participated in numerous school and community projects such as singing Mozart’s Requiem with the Greensboro Choral Society and Bach’s Cantata BWV 191, Handel’s oratorio Jephtha, and Durufle’s Requiem with the UNCSA Cantata Singers. She has also been in a number of local musical theater productions in the Winston-Salem area over the years.
