Jordan Hammons, tenor, is a 2022 Winner of the Houston District of The Metropolitan Opera’s Laffont Competition. In the 2023/2024 season he will appear as the Young Servant in Elektra by Strauss at The Dallas Opera. He is the host of The Dallas Opera’s web series Smoked: Pit to Stage which combines two Texas traditions: the love of opera and barbecue. Jordan has also appeared in productions with The Dallas Opera’s Education and outreach department. As part of the 2021 LAH-Summer Opera Workshop, Jordan performed The Prince in in Rusalka (Dvořák) and Froh in Das Rheingold (Wagner). Mr. Hammons as also been seen as Macheath in Britten’s The Beggar’s Opera, and Aeneas in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas. He received praise in Theatre Jones for capturing the character’s “pathetic, beaten-dog quality” in his portrayal of Little Bat in Floyd’s Susannah.

In 2022, Mr. Hammons was featured as tenor soloist in East Dallas Christian Church's performance of Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 2 Op. 52: Hymn of Praise. As a concert soloist, he has been featured in The Seven Last Words of Christ (DuBois), Messiah (Handel), Serenade (Britten), and Magnificat (Bach). He has also presented chamber concerts including Benjamin Britten's Canticle III: Still Falls the Rain, John Corgliano's Three Irish Folksongs, and Vita Brevis by Paul Moravec.

Mr. Hammons holds a Bachelor of Arts from Millsaps College and a Performer’s Diploma and Master of Music Degree from Southern Methodist University where he was awarded the Roy and Sue Johnson Award for excellence in opera.
