Polish American mezzo-soprano Jules Furgal is a recent graduate of DePaul University’s Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance program, where they studied under the tutelage of Linda DiFiore. In June 2025, Jules was named the 1st Prize Winner of the 2025 ACPC Sembrich Award. In October 2024, Jules was named an Encouragement Award winner in the Minneapolis District of the Met Laffont Opera Competition. Recently, Jules performed with North Park University as Annio in La Clemenza di Tito, and Bellissima Opera as Waitress in their production of Speed Dating Tonight. Other performance highlights include Laura Hildebrand in Street Scene and a performance with the DePaul Concert Orchestra as the featured soloist singing Composer’s Aria by Richard Strauss. In summer of 2023, Jules was a Studio Artist at Musica Nelle Marche, featured in excerpts of Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro (Cherubino), Rossini’s Cenerentola (Cenerentola) and Verdi’s Falstaff (Meg Page). While abroad, Jules obtained their A1 Italian Certification, and is actively continuing their German and Italian language studies. Jules also grew up speaking Polish and continues to embrace their Polish heritage on and off stage. In the past, Jules has attended workshops including Global Musician’s Workshop studying folk music from around the world, and Natalie Weiss’ Musical Theatre Masterclass for Classical Singers. This fall, Jules will begin their MM at Northwestern University, studying with Karen Brunssen, and covering the role of "Taller Zegner Sister" in Missy Mazzoli's Proving Up.
