Biography

(She/Her) Hello, my name is Libby (short for Elizabeth), and I am a current Acting MFA student at Northwestern University. I was born in Atlanta, rasied in Seoul and Las Vegas, and was living in New York  for six years before I relocated to Chicago recently for graduate school. I was also a designer before I pivoted to acting in 2017 (check my website, it looks very designer-y).

Biography

Libby Lee

If you ask her where she is from Libby will take a deep breath before answering: "it's complicated!” She was born in Georgia, but grew up mostly in Nevada and South Korea. She also lived in California for three months in high school if that counts. Now, she is a Chicago and New York based actor.

She often gets cast as vulnerable, sensitive characters who are dealing with heavy circumstances. A.k.a. she cries a lot in her work (check her reel). Her favorite role to date is when she played Rose Mundy in Brian Friel's ‘Dancing at Lughnasa’ directed by Alan Langdon.  She prays to add Charlotte Corday from ‘The Revolutionists’, Chekhov’s legendary Nina, Olivia from ‘Twelfth Night’, and a character like Jobu Tupaki to her resume soon.

Libby sings and dances well, but she is an actor first. She is fluent in and enjoys all mediums, but her true love is live theatre. Greek tragedies, Shakespeares, and Chekhovs are where she likes to live. Her role models are Cynthia Erivo, Jessie Mueller, Daniel Day Lewis, Phoebe Waller Bridge, Sandra Oh, and Saorise Ronan in no particular order.

She is also a proud Teaching Artist. Libby has been teaching ever since she assisted her English tutor mother with lessons as a 6th grader. Sharing her love for art is extremely fulfilling for her, and she has a lot of fun at her day job. She worked for One River School teaching digital art, for Creative Muse teaching theatre improv, and for Marquis Studios teaching anything from Greek Mythology to Paper Sculptures to Mask Making.

An aspiring comedy nerd and fan of anything funny, Libby is usually watching Ali Wong specials, Veep, or some old SNL clips on the weekends. She would watch Parks and Rec too if she believed Peacock was a real streaming service. Before she became an actor she had a short career as an industrial designer. She even went to art school. She still likes to draw and design and make prints in her free time.

Libby is currently an Acting MFA student at Northwestern University. Before that, she attended Circle in the Square Theatre School, which is a secret school in the basement of a Broadway theatre. Before that, she attended Seoul National University which has recently become famous in the U.S. thanks to Squid Game.
