Teacher

2017 - Present
Teacher of Scene Study Class for Actors through The New York Theater Festival “Luke is a very strong instructor, speaking with an actor instead of at them while infusing his direction with a level of humility, which allows the pupil to achieve true collaboration and learning. I love Luke’s accessibility plus his knowledge and respect for the actor.” ~ Tanyeno Wotorson “I loved working with Luke! He is smart, sensitive, and knows exactly what he’s talking about. His knowledge expands far beyond a white male, he can relate to anyone. He provided individualized attention. I felt safe and like I was in a professional environment.” ~ Laurel McGoff “I’m so happy that I chose to take this course. I had no idea what to expect but I’m thrilled. It’s been the highlight of my weeks! Luke is passionate about acting and I learned so much from him. He challenges me and I love watching him work with the class. It’s fun and stimulating.” ~ Alexandria Persinger “I enjoyed the class. The acting assignments and exercises were useful. The sessions were well worth my time. Luke was very congenial, clear, thorough. He gave me good ideas as to developing my character. Also when he directed others, I learned some things. He was humorous, focused, friendly.” ~ Warren Wyss “Great class. I found it very energizing. A reminder of some things I already knew and had forgotten, and an education in new ideas and concepts. Luke is a wonderful communicator and very effective with imagery. HE was very skilled at getting us to curtail unnecessary movement onstage and using our voices more effectively. Great at helping us realize our character’s motivations in various scenes.” ~ Michael Huston

Director / Producer

"The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet" - toured various High Schools throughout NYC. Luke Bond and the New York Theater Festival came together to produce one of William Shakespeare's most famous plays to support the belief that Shakespeare’s classics can only truly be appreciated when seen in live performance. Shakespeare’s language and prose demand living and breathing actors to suit actions to words and words to actions. Considering Shakespeare’s works are such an integral part of our country’s education for young students, we deem it essential that schools all across the country have access to affordable and invigorating productions. Starring Devin Nelson, Noam Shapiro, Luke Bond, Andrea Figliomeni, Nazlah Black, Joseph Pascone, Federico Mallet, Emmanuel Polycarpe, Nave Barel, Christopher Mcintyre, and Hannah Long "Very good, fresh approach to the tale of Romeo and Juliet. The interaction with such a young audience is a must.I liked the modern dress and setting, the passion, romance, tragedy, and versus, and the essential elements of each character were portrayed with such passion (another plus for a young audience!)" ~ Mrs. Malyukov, Faculty of A. Philip Randolph Campus High School, New York City. "Entertaining, enthusiastic, funny, passionate! I enjoyed the simplicity of the show and the modern costumes. "Having the opportunity to watch a live version of the play was a wonderful opportunity for our 9th graders, and a great way to reinforce the work they have been doing in class." ~ David Fanning, Principal of A. Philip Randolph Campus High School “It was very engaging and appropriate. I liked the actions to engage students and make the play more accessible” – Kierra D. Fastapuir, Faculty of A. Philip Randolph Campus High School, New York City. "The Production of Romeo and Juliet was engaging. The students were participating and were following the characters on stage.
