Biography

Matthew Cerillo most recently made his role debut as Little Bat in Susannah with St. Petersburg Opera. This fall, he returns as a Bailey Apprentice Artist at Palm Beach Opera for the 2025–2026 season, where he will cover Borsa in Rigoletto and the Prune Vendor in La bohème, as well as study cover for Nadir in Les pêcheurs de perles. During the 2024-2025 season, Matthew performed the role of Giuseppe, covered Gastone, and study covered Alfredo in La traviata

Lehrer Fellow

Summer of 2024, Matthew was a Lehrer Fellow at the renowned Music Academy of the West, where he co-starred alongside one of his tenor heroes, Met Opera’s Lawrence Brownlee, in their recital Uprising/Rising Up. During his residency, he performed and covered the role of Don José in Carmen, and also portrayed Le Petit Vieillard in Mary Birnbaum’s production of L'Enfant et les Sortilèges.
