Mawu Ama Ma’at Gora (they/them) is a Brooklyn native currently residing in Philadelphia. As a black, queer, Caribbean and transdisciplinary artist their movement practice is about food– sustenance, ceremony and storytelling. A graduate of Georgian Court University (BA) and Temple University (MFA). Honored to learn from luminaries:  Jawole Willa Jo Zollar, Dr. Kariamu Welsh,  Lela Aisha Jones and Silvana Cardell. As a freelance artist, educator and dance scholar they are influenced by Black diasporic, indigenous histories and spiritual traditions that deepen their knowledge and context for the current political climate. Founder and director of the project-based company, Ma’at Works Dance Collective and adjunct professor at Bryn Mawr College.
