Biography

Paige Cameron

Paige Cameron (she/they) is an opera director, singer, and teaching artist passionate about making opera accessible to all by reimagining what it can be. A native to the Chicago area, they've directed for companies like Chicago City Opera (Die tote Stadt, Bluebeard's Castle, La Femme Bohème) and Thompson Street Opera (Forever, Wet Dirt, The Boy Who Wanted to Be A Robot), as well as assistant directing for Lyric Opera of Chicago (Frida Kahlo and the Bravest Girl in the World) and associate directing for the Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company of Chicago (Ruddigore, H.M.S. Pinafore). Paige also teaches with Lyric Opera of Chicago, working in public schools across the city to bring opera to young people and young people to the opera. In 2023, she was named a member of the International Teaching Artist Collaborative's Young and Emerging Leaders Forum for her work in education. In 2024, they joined the Music Academy of the West Lehrer Vocal Institute as their directing fellow (director: Opera Scenes, asst. director: Carmen, L'enfant et les sortilèges) and recently joined Opera Saratoga as a Festival Artist (asst. director: In a Grove, She Loves Me). She holds a Bachelor of Music in vocal performance and opera as well as a certificate in musical theatre from the Bienen School of Music at Northwestern University. paigecameronopera.com
