Biography

Salem Bowman

Mezzo-soprano Salem Bowman is a recent graduate of Austin Peay State University, earning a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance. He performed in multiple APSU Opera Theatre productions, most recently as Zelda Fitzgerald (1948) in Evan Mack’s The Ghosts of Gatsby. Other roles include Comte Barigoule in Viardot’s Cendrillon, the Second Lady in Mozart’s The Magic Flute, and scenes from Vivaldi’s Farnace and Handel’s Giulio Cesare.
Bowman has received recognition in several competitions, winning First in Category at the 2024 Charleston International Baroque Music Competition and Second in Category at the 2024 NATS Tennessee Chapter Auditions. He advanced to the National Student Auditions after reaching the semifinals in the 2025 NATS Mid-South Regional Auditions.
In summer 2024, he studied with the Austrian American Mozart Academy in Salzburg, Austria, performing the role of Annio in La Clemenza di Tito and appearing as a concert soloist.
