Svitlana Merlichenko, born in Ukraine, began her musical training at the age of six, studying piano and singing in choir. At sixteen, she was admitted directly to the second year of the Dnipropetrovsk Music College, where she pursued studies in voice and ensemble performance.
Shortly thereafter, she joined the Dnipropetrovsk Musical Theater, performing leading roles in musicals and operettas. She later continued her vocal studies at the National Music Academy of Ukraine in Kyiv, earning her Master’s degree under the guidance of the renowned Ukrainian soprano Eugenia Miroshnichenko. During this time, she appeared in numerous productions and concerts, notably performing the role of Nedda in I Pagliacci under the baton of Roman Kofman.
Following her graduation, Svitlana performed in concert engagements in Lebanon before relocating to the United States. Her repertoire encompasses opera, concert, and Baroque works. She has continued her artistic development with Robin Fisher, Noemi Lugo, and Gail Dubinbaum.
Currently, Svitlana is pursuing further studies at the University of Kentucky, where she has worked under Cynthia Lawrence and Dr. Angelique Clay. Recent performances include Madame Lidoine in Poulenc’s Dialogues des Carmélites and the Countess in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro.
