Biography

Sylwia Pietrzak

I am delighted, that I can present myself to you. I was born on the 9th October 1992 in Tychy, Poland. When I was the child I learned to play the violin for several years until I fell in love with singing . I graduated Secondary School of Music in Katowice and I went to the Academy of Music in Poznań. I worked with dr hab. J. Kozłowska - Szczepaniak and dr. hab. T. Zagórski there. Afterwards I moved out to Warsav and I started studying opera singing at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw (dr Magdalena idzik). After finished the first Master’s Degree Program with Opera-Singing Speciality, I continued studying Cameral Music at the same University (dr hab. prof. I. Kłosińska).
I try to get inspired all the time. During my studies, I attended various masterclasses with great teachers and also took part in various opera projects: Eugene Oniegin as Olga, Rigoletto as Maddalena, Haunted Manor as Jadwiga. I got a scholarship for outstanding artistic achievements. Moreover, I was involved in numerous concerts, festivals, competitions. I got the Special Prize at 18th Imrich Godin International Vocal Competition. I have been selected to perform the Recital - Johannes Brahms Songs in National Philharmonic in Warsaw (2019). What's more, I took part in recording of Offertorium by J. Elsner(2018 World Premier) and songs by Lutoslawski for the polish opera. Despite I collaborate with the National Philharmonic in the premieres of operas by contemporary composers.

Thanks to the grant of awarded the Lily Niblock Memorial Scholarship I could prepare the role of Dritte dame in Die Zauberflote and Prince Orlovsky in Die Fledermaus during Berlin Opera Academy 2021. Despite I had the opportunity to work with great musicians (Matthew Toogood, David Wakeham, Nathaniel LaNasa, Kevin Class). I was invited to the masterclass by the Bavarian Opera Academy and at this time I was selected as a polish representative for the 20th International Lyric Competition Ottavio Zino in Roma. In the same year I received a special award and a concert with the Cracow Philharmonic at a VIIth Jan Kiepura International Vocal Competition in Krynica Zdrój in Poland. This season I will have the honour of making my chamber opera debut.
