Tyler Warwas is a young lyric Tenor based out of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Although very early into his operatic career, Mr. Warwas has already made role debuts in classics of the operatic canon, such as Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni, Mozart) and Dr. Blind (Die Fledermaus, Strauss Jr.). Mr. Warwas found his love for singing in his middle school and high school choir programs, led by choral directors that would instill a lifelong love of music and a drive for musical excellence. Mr. Warwas is a native of Texas, coming from the border region of McAllen, Tx. As he progresses in his vocal studies, Mr. Warwas has taken particular interest in the operas of Mozart and Gounod.
Despite being a young singer, Mr. Warwas has already gained valuable experience in the world of opera. Recent roles include Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni, Mozart) with Varna International Music Academy, Dr. Blind (Die Fledermaus, Strauss Jr.), and Ferrando cover (Cosi fan tutte, Mozart), both with UNT Opera from the traditional repertoire. He has also taken a dive into new operatic works, singing the role of Garcia (Notes on Viardot, Ching) with Music on Site, Inc. last winter and exploring the works of Jake Heggie. Of particular value to him was the role study of Ferrando with UNT Opera. As a cover, Mr. Warwas was able to learn the process of learning and embodying a role while also being able to fill a helpful position. Mr. Warwas has also been active in the competition sphere, being awarded as a Finalist in the 2023 Texoma NATS Collegiate Classical Competition. Also active in the creative sphere, Mr. Warwas made his directorial debut last academic year by Assistant Directing Proving Up (Mazzoli) with UNT Opera under the Director Jonathan Eaton.
Mr. Warwas is currently pursuing a Bachelors of Music in Vocal Performance at the University of North Texas, studying under Dr. Carol Wilson. Going into his 4th year of school, Mr. Warwas is excited for the future possibilities of Graduate School and beyond.
