Uma Singh

Uma Singh is an American lyric soprano from Cleveland, Ohio. She is currently pursuing a Fulbright Scholarship in voice at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar. Her project focuses on the art song of Franz Liszt, German Romantic storytelling, and the collaborative relationship between pianist and singer. In fall 2025, she will return to the United States to sing Beryl Barbelle in Katie: The Strongest of the Strong with Lyric Opera of Chicago’s Lyric Unlimited program. During summer 2024, she joined Central City Opera as a Studio Artist. Singh received her M.M. in Voice and Opera at Northwestern University (2024), where she sang Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte, Alcina in Handel’s Alcina, and Erste Dame in Die Zauberflöte. While at Northwestern, she also participated in a masterclass with Joyce DiDonato. Singh joined Chautauqua Opera Company as a Studio Artist in summer 2023. While attending the University of Michigan (B.M. 2021), she sang Euridice in Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice. Last season, Singh won awards from the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition, Casa Italia Vocal Competition, the Glimco Competition, the American Opera Society of Chicago Competition, and the Musician's Club of Women.
