Will Kim

Korean-American Baritone June Young (Will) Kim (1996) received his Bachelor of Music from Indiana University Bloomington with a double major in composition and voice studying under Peter Volpe. He holds a Masters in Composition from HMT München and a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Composition from HMDK Stuttgart. Since 2022, he is pursuing a Masters in Gesang (Neue Musik) at HMDK Stuttgart as a student of Yeree Suh and Angelika Luz. He also studies Lied with Gerold Huber in Munich as a guest student with his Lied-Duo partner. Other important teachers he worked with include Peter Harvey, Patrick Grahl, Georg Poplutz, Peter Kooij, Darrell Babidge, Margreet Honig and Alda Caiello. 

As a soloist, he performs both traditional concert/opera repertoire and contemporary music. Recent engagements as a soloist include Bach’s oratorio works with Jos van Veldhoven and Hans-Christoph Rademann in Stuttgart, a production of La Traviata in Sulz am Glatt and Die Fledermaus in Tübingen. Recent engagements for contemporary music include concerts in Stuttgart, Bonn, Halberstadt, Graz and Milan. He is a 2025 Tanglewood Music Center fellow, performing various solo and operatic repertoire, working with artists such as Dawn Upshaw, Randall Scarlatta, Will Liverman, Peter Sellars and Harry Chrstophers & The Sixteen.

He is a scholarship holder of DAAD Stipendium, Deutscher Musikrat Stipendium, Stipendienprogramms des Freistaats Bayern and the Landeshauptstadt München Musikstipendium.
