Executive Director of On Site Opera, a unique nonprofit arts organization that presents opera performances in unusual spaces, such as museums, gardens, and historic sites. As ED, I guide the organization’s strategic plans in partnership with the General & Artistic Director and the Board, and oversee all administrative aspects of operations, from fundraising and finance to marketing and audience experience. I previously held leadership positions with a number of performing arts groups, and regularly speak at conferences and forums to drive conversations among leaders in the performing arts fields, particularly as it relates to the advancement of women in arts leadership.

Biography

Piper Gunnarson

Arts leadership professional with 15+ years of experience in many facets of arts organizations. Piper Gunnarson (she/her) has served as On Site Opera’s Executive Director since 2017, steering the company’s operational growth with specific focus on board relations, financial planning, fundraising, strategic planning, and numerous administrative operations. Prior to joining On Site, Piper worked primarily in theater administration, including as Managing Director for Random Farms Kids Theater, General Manager for the NYU Gallatin Arts Festival, Development Director for Abingdon Theatre Company, and in education / administration for the Geffen Playhouse, Will Geer Theatricum, and the Lark Play Development Center. Piper holds a B.A. in Theatre from the University of California, San Diego and an M.A. in Leadership For The Arts from NYU’s Gallatin School Of Individualized Study. She will complete a certificate in Diversity, Equity & Inclusion from Rutgers University in Spring 2022.
