Rebecca Krynski Cox

Hailed by The New York Times as a “vibrant soprano...with a secure, appealing sound and eye-opening volume,” Rebecca Krynski Cox returns to the Fest Ensemble at the Luzerner Theater for the 2019-2020 Season. Her roles there include Tatyana (Eugene Onegin), Alice Ford (Falstaff), Gretchen (Schumann's Faust-Szenen), Elisabetta (Maria Stuarda), and Erste Dame (Die Zauberflöte). At the Metropolitan Opera, Cox sang the role of Cynthia in the workshop of Muhly’s Two Boys, and she joined New York City Opera to cover Amaltea in Mosè in Egitto. With Kentucky Opera she debuted as Violetta in La traviata and at El Paso Opera she sang Micaëla in Carmen. At the Santa Fe Opera, she covered the Countess in Strauss' Capriccio and Sara in the world premiere of Cold Mountain. As a Resident Artist at Minnesota Opera, she sang Louella Parsons in Argento’s The Dream of Valentino and covered the title role in Arabella. At Des Moines Metro Opera, Cox sang Micaëla (Brook/Bizet’s La tragédie de Carmen), Annina (La traviata), and the Fifth Maid (Elektra), as well as covered Violetta (La traviata), Ellen Orford (Peter Grimes), and Donna Anna (Don Giovanni). At Manhattan School of Music, where she was the recipient of the Mae Zenke Orvis Scholarship in Opera Studies and the Shoshana Foundation’s 2012 Career Grant, Cox performed the title role of Thaïs, Rosina (The ghosts of Versailles), Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte), Salud (La vida breve), and Alice Ford (Falstaff). Honors include 1st place in the Eisenberg-Fried Competition, and the Orvis Foundation Award in the Liederkranz Competition.
