Adam Da Ros is a Canadian stage and music director active in opera and musical theatre. He is director of opera workshop at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and an alumnus of the resident artist training programs at Minnesota Opera and Vancouver Opera. He has worked in administration, directing, and music directing for various organizations, including two years as Artistic Planning Associate at Vancouver Opera.

Biography

Adam Da Ros

Adam Da Ros is a Canadian stage and music director active in opera and musical theatre. In June 2020, he completed his second season as Resident Artist Stage Director at Minnesota Opera, where he assisted on eight mainstage productions, as well as directing members of the Resident Artist Program in promotional and outreach activities, including a recent concert at the National Opera Center in New York City. Adam is currently the director of the opera workshop at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where he also teaches the combined undergraduate and graduate opera theatre course. Adam holds a Master of Music degree from the University of British Columbia and is an alumnus of the Yulanda M. Faris Young Artists Program at Vancouver Opera, where he also worked in Artistic Planning for two seasons. He has served as an assistant director, assistant conductor, pianist, and administrator at various summer festivals, including Des Moines Metro Opera, Pittsburgh Festival Opera, and the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity. Recent directing credits include Il barbiere di Siviglia and Madama Butterfly for Burnaby Lyric Opera, Un ballo in maschera with Opera Mariposa and Heroic Opera, and two productions for Manitoba Underground Opera – an original adaptation of Mozart’s Idomeneo designed for the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, and a modern adaptation combining the Purcell and Rolfe settings of Dido and Aeneas.
