Biography

Peter Scott Drackley has been lauded by Opera News as having “showed vocal confidence […] his luminous head voice blooming with expansive and penetrating phrases.” and by Opera Today as bringing “the performance to an awestruck standstill with his exquisite singing. He cuts a fine figure throughout the performance, with an intense stage presence.” He has performed such operatic roles as Riccardo (Un Ballo in Maschera), Rodolfo (La bohème), Pollione (Norma), Turiddu (Cavalleria Rusticana), and Cavaradossi (Tosca).
As a frequent concert soloist, Mr. Drackley has sung Verdi’s Requiem, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis and 9th Symphony, and many others. He also debuted the role of Antonin Scalia in Derrick Wang’s opera Scalia/Ginsburg at the Supreme Court, a concert that was featured on National Public Radio’s All Things Considered, a role he recently performed with Opera Carolina and Opera Grand Rapids.
A mentee of Dramatic Soprano Alexandra LoBianco, Mr. Drackley has performed with Anchorage Opera, Baltimore Concert Opera, Opera Idaho, OperaDelaware, Opera Omaha, LoftOpera, the Strathmore Mansion, the National Cathedral, and as a soloist at Carnegie Hall. Mr. Drackley trained at Peabody Conservatory, as a Studio Artist with Sarasota Opera, and as an Apprentice Artist with Des Moines Metro Opera and Santa Fe Opera.
Recently, Mr. Drackley joined Des Moines Metro Opera as an Ensemble Artist, singing Pirelli (Sweeney Todd), singing Chekalinsky and covering Gherman (Pique Dame). In the spring of 2022, Mr. Drackley will make role debuts as Radamés (Aïda) with Opera Carolina and Calaf (Turandot) with Opera Grand Rapids, and will make his UK debut as Rodolfo (La bohème) summer of 2022. “Tenor Peter Scott Drackley won massive ovations after his heart-rendering performance... He retained a reserved and gentle legato line throughout the opening of the aria, letting his voice build to the orchestral and vocal explosion that takes place halfway through. This allowed the audience to take the emotional journey with him from pain to anguish to eventually blood lust”
