Madison Montambault

Praised by Indy Maven to be “a powerhouse sure to entertain and inspire”, American-Canadian Mezzo-Soprano, Madison Montambault has been praised for her versatile performance ability across the operatic repertoire.

In 2023-2024 season, Ms. Montambault makes her company debut with Dayton Opera in Wagner’s Das Rheingold where she sings Wellgunde and covers Fricka. Later in the season, she returns to Edmonton Opera in Wagner’s Das Rheingold as Wellgunde, and makes her recital debut at Kerrytown Concert House in Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA. She made her role and company debut with Indianapolis Opera as Suzuki in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, and later appeared as the Announcer in Douglas Moore’s one act opera, Gallantry with Indianapolis Opera. Recently, she was seen in the role of Muley’s Wife in Ricky Ian Gordon’s The Grapes of Wrath with Detroit Opera Theatre, where she is a frequent collaborator. She made her professional debut in 2017 with Detroit Chamber Winds & Strings as Mrs. Williamson in the difficulty of crossing a field by David Lang lead by internationally renowned coach and conductor, Kathleen Kelly.

Ms. Montambault was a 3rd place winner of the 2022 Edmonton Opera Rumbold Vocal Prize, a Central Regional Finalist in the 2022 Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition, two time prize winner (Winner & Encouragement Awards) of the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition- Indiana District, a semi-finalist in the 2023 George London Foundation Competition, a semi-finalist in the 2022 Premiere Opera Foundation International Voice Competition, a semi-finalist in the 2022 Opera Tampa D’Angelo Young Artist Vocal Competition, a two time semi-finalist in American International Czech & Slovak Competition, and a semi-finalist in the Byrd International Young Artist Competition.

Madison completed Young Artist Program residencies with Sarasota Opera, Indianapolis Opera and The National Music Festival. She holds a Master of Music degree in Voice Performance, a Bachelor of Music Degree in Voice Performance and is a proud alumna of The University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance. During her academic career, she was a graduate fellow and awarded the Blanche Thebom Opera Fellowship, was a recipient of the University of Michigan’s EXCEL Enterprise Fund Grant, and was a finalist in the University of Michigan Concerto Competition. At Michigan, she studied with internationally acclaimed Bass-Baritone, Stephen West.

Passionate about operatic and song literature from the French Impressionist Era, Ms. Montambault enjoys actively studying and interpreting works by Debussy, Poulenc and Ravel.

She currently studies with world renowned Soprano, Jennifer Rowley.
