Paul Hill

(He/They, Him/Them) Utah Native Paul Leland Hill began pursuing an MM in Vocal Performance at the University of Michigan, studying with Professor Stanford Olsen 2019. He will be singing the father, Pandolphe, in Massenet's Cendrillon this fall at University of Michigan. He sang the title character in U of M's Don Pasquale spring of 2021 and Figaro in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro at UVAA in July. Paul apprenticed at Opera Neo and Sarasota Opera.

Biography

Paul Leland Hill is a bass from Salt Lake City, Utah. In 2019, Paul graduated with a Masters of Music degree in Vocal Performance in 2021 studying with Professor Stanford Olsen. While at UMich, he appeared as the Sodbuster in Missy Mazzoli’s Proving Up, Don Pasquale in Donizetti’s Don Pasquale, and Pandolphe in Massenet's Cendrillon. He apprenticed at Sarasota Opera in 2020, covering the sergeant in La bohême. In the summer of 2021, he attended the Taos Opera Institute and sang Figaro in Utah Valley Arts Academy’s production of Le nozze di Figaro.

Paul received an undergraduate degree in Piano Performance from the University of Utah. After finishing his degree, Paul studied voice with Dr. Seth Keeton and sang with the Utah Opera Chorus.
Paul Leland fearlessly and suavely accompanied himself as he nailed the unrelenting lines of Stephen Sondheim's "Everybody Says Don't" from Anyone Can Whistle.
