Joey is quickly gaining recognition as both an operatic and crossover performer. He is currently a tenor with the Resident Artist Program at Minnesota Opera. Joey has performed professionally in opera and musicals across the country and was honored to be named a Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions Semifinalist in 2020.

Joseph is a tenor and native of Novi, Michigan, and is quickly gaining recognition as both an operatic and crossover performer. He was recently seen on stage of the Lyric Opera of Kansas City as Pedrillo in The Abduction from the Seraglio to great acclaim. He also starred as Tony in Glimmerglass Festival’s new production of West Side Story. Joseph is currently a resident artist with Minnesota Opera. Before this, he was a Resident Artist with the Lyric Opera of Kansas City under the tutelage of the renowned tenor Vinson Cole, and performed the roles of Arturo in Lucia di Lammermoor and was to appear as Delbert Grady in The Shining before it was canceled due to Covid-19.

He has performed professionally in productions and concerts across the United States, including The Summer King (Mariachi 1) at Michigan Opera Theatre, the world premiere of It’s A Wonderful Life! (Mr. Martini) at the Houston Grand Opera, and The Siege of Calais (Giachomo de Wisants) as a young artist with The Glimmerglass Festival. As a studio artist with Opera Saratoga, he performed in Il Postino (The Priest). He was also proud to star in HGOco’s web-series Star-cross’d in their second episode, titled “Now,” which focused on LGBT issues and gender transition.

Joseph is a two-time district winner of the Metropolitan Opera National Council competition and a National Semifinalist for the 2020 competition. He was also honored to take 2nd place at the William C. Byrd vocal competition in Flint, MI. Joseph received his master’s degree in Voice Performance and Opera from the prestigious Rice
