Abigail Arnold, a Hong Kong native, is a senior pursuing her Bachelor’s in Voice and Opera performance at Northwestern’s Bienen School of Music under the tutelage of Pamela Hinchman. Arnold appeared as Mabel (The Pirates of Penzance), La Fée (Cendrillon) and Sofia (Il Signor Bruschino) with Northwestern’s Opera Projects for Undergraduate Singers. Other credits include Amore (L'incoronazione di Poppea) and Oberto (Alcina) with the Northwestern University Opera Theatre, where she also covered Queen of the Night (The Magic Flute) and Despina (Così fan tutte).
Recently, Arnold was a singers fellow at the Ravinia Steans Music Institute, where she performed some of her favorite art songs by Debussy and Schubert. This spring, Arnold was selected to attend the prestigious Young Artist Vocal Academy at Houston Grand Opera. Arnold is a member of the Bienen Contemporary/Early Music Ensemble under the baton of baroque expert Andrew Megill and, previously, Grammy-winning conductor Donald Nally. Arnold looks to honor her Chinese heritage by exploring Chinese art song repertoire, and has received the Barbara Fei Memorial Vocal Solo Trophy and the Grantham Music Scholarship for her winning performances of Chinese art songs at the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival.
