Alexandra Nowakowski

Praised by Opera News for her “impassioned singing”, Polish-American coloratura soprano Alexandra Nowakowski is a frequent collaborator with the The Metropolitan Opera where she has covered in multiple in productions, including Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos, Lucia in Lucia di Lammermoor, and Gilda in Rigoletto, all for the 21/22 season. She returns for the 22/23 season to cover Barbara/Mrs. Latch in The Hours (Puts), Voce dal cielo in Don Carlo, and Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier. Her operatic engagements have also taken her to Wolf Trap Opera, the Baltic Opera Poland, the Washington National Opera, and the Verbier Festival. A frequent recitalist, Nowakowski has performed with Vocal Arts DC, the Brooklyn Art Song Society, the Embassy Series, the Marcella Sembrich Opera Museum, the Kosciuszko Foundation, and was slated to be presented in the Carnegie Hall Citywide Concert Series (COVID19). She has made several orchestral debuts, including engagements with The Columbus Symphony, The Philadelphia Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra, and the Bach Society Houston. As a recipient of the Beebe Fund, Nowakowski spent time in Poland researching Polish music and recording her debut album of all Polish music, “Kraina." Ms. Nowakowski has taken First Prize in several competitions, including the Gerda Lissner Foundation Competition, the Violetta DuPont Competition, the Opera Columbus Cooper-Bing Competition, the Partners for the Arts Competition, and the Marcella Sembrich International Voice Competition with the Kosciuszko Foundation. She is affiliated with Astral Artists as a winner of their 2019 National Auditions. Alexandra is a graduate of the Academy of Vocal Arts and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
