Alyssa Cox, Maryland soprano, holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and post graduate study at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. Most recently, Alyssa was the soprano soloist in Verdi's Messa di Requiem with the FMMC Arioso Chorale in Washington DC, soprano soloist in Leavitt's "Ave verum corpus", and soloist for the National Cathedral Choral Society's world premiere of Paul Mealor's Silent Night with the composer in residence and conducted by Betsy Burleigh. She also performed with Baltimore Concert Opera's Thirsty Thursdays at the Opera series with arias and ensembles at the Chrysalis Theater at Merriwether Post Pavilion, the Towson Public Library, and the Baltimore Engineers Club.
June of 2018 Alyssa performed the role of the Primadonna/Ariadne in Strauss's Ariadne auf Naxos with the Miami Music Festival, conducted by Bradley Moore and directed by David Toulson. She has been seen as Cendrillon by Massenet, First Lady in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, and in scenes as Leonora in Il Trovatore, Margherita in Boito's Mefistofele with Frisco Opera, Magda in The Consul, Susannah in Floyd's Susannah, Die Marschallin in Der Rosenkavalier, and debuted at Carnegie Hall Weill Recital Hall performing Anna Bolena's mad scene by Donizetti, accompanied by Mikhail Hallak. Alyssa also appeared in Grieg's Peer Gynt as Zweite Säterinne with the Cleveland Orchestra under the baton of Vladimir Ashkenazy.
