Biography

Andrew Finden

As an ensemble member of the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe from 2011-2015, Andrew’s roles included Marullo (Rigoletto), Moralès (Carmen), Cristiano (Un ballo in maschera), Clock/Cat (L’enfant et les Sortilèges), Schtschelkalow (Boris Godunov) and, as part of the International Händel-Festspiele Karlsruhe, Berardo (Riccardo Primo) and Clito (Alessandro), the latter of which can be heard in a live recording released on Pan Classics. Particular highlights of Andrew’s seasons in Karlsruhe have included Dr Falke (Die Fledermaus), Ned Keene in Christopher Alden’s acclaimed production of Peter Grimes, Il Conte Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro), Schaunard (La bohème), Oberthal (Le prophète), Papageno (Die Zauberflöte), Tadeusz in the German première of Weinberg’s The Passenger, Konrad Nachtigall in Tobias Kratzer’s FAUST Award-nominated Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, and Oreste in Iphigénie en Tauride, a performance for which Opernnetz singled Andrew out as “undoubtedly the highlight”.
