Hailed for his “take-your-breath-away high C” (Inside Magazine) and described by Fox News as “quickly rising to the top due to his jaw-dropping voice,” Andrew Lunsford has performed some of opera’s most celebrated leading roles and appeared on some of the world’s most prestigious concert stages, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Featured on NBC, ABC, FOX News, and in the CNN prime-time special The Accidental Tenor, Lunsford discovered his vocal abilities later in life and pursued formal training, earning his Bachelor of Music from the University of Denver’s Lamont School of Music and his Master of Music from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where he studied under famed soprano Carol Vaness.
His notable operatic roles include the title role in Gounod’s Faust, Calaf in Turandot, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, Tamino in The Magic Flute, The Italian Tenor in Der Rosenkavalier, and Podestà in Mozart’s La Finta Giardiniera. Equally comfortable in musical theater, he has appeared as Adolfo Pirelli in Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd and Gieber Goldfarb in the Gershwins’ Girl Crazy. In November 2024, he created the role of Solomon Kavalier in the world premiere of Mason Bates and Gene Scheer’s new opera The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay, a co-production between the Metropolitan Opera and the Jacobs School of Music. In the spring of 2025, he returned to Carnegie Hall, marking his tenth appearance on the celebrated stage.
Beyond the stage, Andrew is deeply committed to nurturing the next generation of singers. As a versatile voice teacher, he offers personalized instruction across classical, musical theater, and contemporary styles, guided by a structured, analytical, and holistic approach to vocal development. His students benefit from individualized lesson plans, diverse repertoire, and comprehensive performance preparation, fostering both technical mastery and expressive artistry.
