Andrew Voelker is currently Visiting Assistant Professor of Vocal Coaching and Collaborative and SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music, directing the award-winning Crane Opera Ensemble. They are completing their Doctor of Music in Collaborative Piano at Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music. They have worked for the Aspen Opera Center; Great Lakes Light Opera in Cleveland, Ohio; Chicago Summer Opera; and Illinois Wesleyan University.
Andrew Voelker is a Doctor of Music student, studying collaborative piano in the Jacobs School of Music under the guidance of Kevin Murphy and Anne Epperson. Prior to their studies at IU, Andrew was an Adjunct Lecturer of Accompanying and Opera Coach at Illinois Wesleyan University. There they were the music director for opera productions, and also performed with students and faculty in recitals and New Music forums. They hold Bachelor’s degrees in piano and voice from Northern Illinois University and a Master’s degree in collaborative piano from the Cleveland Institute of Music. Their teachers have included Anita Pontremoli, Linda Jones, Futaba Niekawa, William Koehler, and Dana Brown. In the summer of 2019, Andrew was a Coach/Accompanist at Opera in the Ozarks where they prepared La bohème and was the touring music director for the company’s education tour. They were a 2018 Opera Coaching Fellow at the Aspen Opera Center, and have been a music director for productions with Great Lakes Light Opera, Chicago Summer Opera, and Prairie Fire Theatre. From 2014-2017, Andrew was a member of the collaborative piano staff at the renowned Interlochen Arts Camp. They have collaborated with students at Illinois State University, Case Western Reserve University, and Ursuline College. Currently, Andrew is in high demand as an opera and vocal coach and is researching innovation in the research and programming of art song literature for their dissertation.
