Biography

Angela, Yenchun Wang

Taiwanese violinist Angela (Yenchun) Wang is a dynamic performer and educator dedicated to fostering a deep connection between music and community. With a rich background in both performance and pedagogy, Angela brings a unique blend of artistry and teaching prowess to every endeavor.

As an active performer, Angela has held positions at various orchestras such as Owensboro Symphony Orchestra, Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra, Columbus Indiana Philharmonic, and Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra. She also appeared as the concertmaster of the Latin American Music Center Chamber Ensemble at Indiana University to perform and premiere unpublished works by Costa Rican composer Rocío Sanz Quirós. Beyond the classrooms and concert halls, Angela was deeply committed to community outreach as an ensemble performance fellow and a musical storytelling fellow with the Community Performance Partnership at New England Conservatory. She developed concert programs and performed lecture recitals in venues such as the Boston Children's Museum, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, schools, and senior centers to enrich the lives of audiences young and old alike.

Her passion for teaching is evident in her diverse array of experiences. As a teaching artist at the Distance Teaching and Learning Lab of Jacobs School of Music, Angela provided online violin lessons, along with Spanish interpreters, to underserved children in the Dominican Republic. She also served as a sectional coach at New Horizons Orchestra in Bloomington, Carmel Clay Middle School, and Hamilton Southeastern High School. As a music teacher, Angela implements engaging lessons to meet each student’s unique needs and aspirations, fostering a positive supportive learning environment for her students.

Angela holds a Master of Music in Violin Performance and a Master of Science in Music Education from Indiana University, where her mentors include Grigory Kalinovsky, Brenda Brenner, and Mimi Zweig. Prior to her time at IU, Angela earned her Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from New England Conservatory, under the tutelage of Paul Biss.
