Biography

Brianna Murray

Brianna Murray is praised for having “one of those soprano voices, clear, perfectly-placed, angelic, that could go on all day and I would still want more” (Herald Times).   Brianna returns for the 24/25 season as a studio artist with Madison Opera.  She will be seen covering Zerlina in Don Giovanni as well as a soloist in their recital series and several other performances in Madison.  In her first year as a studio artist with Madison, Brianna was seen as Jeanette in L'amant Anonyme and covered Cunegonde in Candide.  Last season's highlights included a house and role debut with St. Petersburg Opera as Oberto in Alcina.   Other recent performances include  roles with Chicago Opera Theater and Indianapolis Opera, and The Messiah soprano soloist with the Fox Valley Orchestra. Other operatic highlights include Barbarina in Le Nozze di Figaro, Frasquita in Carmen, and Clorinda in La Cenerentola. Brianna sang as a soloist in Harry Potter 8 in concert with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. She also sang the role of Juliet in the new musical Star Cross’d Lovers. At Indiana University Brianna sang in several productions including Papagena in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte and Barbarina in Le Nozze di Figaro.   Also while at IU, Brianna sang the role of Adina in L'elisir d'amore at Bloomington Chamber Opera and the was the soprano soloist in Mozart's C Minor Mass with Bloomington Chamber Singers.  Equally comfortable on the musical theater stage, Brianna performed the role of Anne Egerman in Sondheim's A Little Night Music at the Quisisana Resort where she returned the next season as Pamina in The Magic Flute. Raised in the Chicagoland area, Brianna completed her undergraduate degrees in Voice and Psychology at Oberlin Conservatory in and obtained her master’s degree in voice along with a certificate in Vocology and completed doctoral coursework from Indiana University.
