North Carolinian Bass-Baritone Cameron Jackson, noted for his formidable acting and rich vocalism, rounded out his 2019/2020 season with residencies with Indianapolis Opera and Opera Naples. During his tenure at Indianapolis Opera he covered the role of Dulcamara in L’elisir d’amore and performed in several concert series throughout the Indianapolis area. While in residence with Opera Naples, Cameron performed the role of the Commentator in Scalia/Ginsburg and the Usher in Trial by Jury. Unfortunately due to Covid-19, Mr. Jackson’s return to the company to sing Masetto in Don Giovanni was ultimately cancelled. Mr. Jackson is an alumnus of the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music where he studied with distinguished Baritone Timothy Noble. During his time at the Jacobs School, Cameron made his debut with Indiana University Opera Theatre in the role of Dulcamara in L’elisir d’amore. Additionally, Mr. Jackson is a former fellow of the A.J. Fletcher Opera Institute and an alumnus of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts where he received a Master of Music and Bachelor of Music in vocal performance under the tutledge or Dr. Marilyn Taylor. Notable credits include the roles of Golaud in Impressions de Pelleas, Don Magnifico in La Cenerentola, Der Musiklehrer in Ariadne auf Naxos, Alvaro in Florencia en el Amazonas, and winning the North Carolina District Encouragement award in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. Cameron has also appeared in performances with Piedmont Opera (Haly, L’italiana in Algeri), the Princeton Festival Opera (Don Fernando, Fidelio), and Opera Wilmington (Vicomte di Cascada, The Merry Widow). In concert, Mr. Jackson has appeared as a soloist with Indianapolis Opera (Opera in the Park!) the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra (Messiah), The University of North Carolina School of the Arts Symphony Orchestra (Serenade to Music, Vaughn Williams) and the University of North Carolina School of the Arts Cantata Singers (Durufle Requiem).
