Biography

Carlos Ahrens

Tenor Carlos Ahrens, praised for his vibrant stage presence and clear, expressive sound, is a
rising talent on the American opera stage. He starred as Justice Antonin Scalia in the title role of
Scalia/Ginsburg with Charlottesville Opera in 2025. Additional role credits include the Baron and
King of Eldorado in Candide at the Glimmerglass Festival and Tommy Djilas in The Music Man
with Charlottesville Opera. This summer, he joined The Opera Theatre of St. Louis as a Gerdine
Young Artist, covering Flute in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and sang Bevins in the
Metropolitan Opera–partnered orchestral workshop of Lincoln in the Bardo with Chautauqua
Opera. Carlos is thrilled to return to the role of Dr. Baglioni in Rappaccini’s Daughter this
September with Columbus Opera. He is currently completing his Artist Diploma at the
College-Conservatory of Music.
