Carly Passer is a San Francisco-based soprano pursuing her Masters degree in Voice and Opera Studies at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM) under the tutelage of Susanne Mentzer. Passer’s recent performance credits include Girl #1 in Errollyn Wallen’s contemporary opera ANON, with original staging conceptualized by Heather Mathews, and Dorinda in Handel’s Orlando with the SFCM Historical Performance department. Additionally, she has performed in various operatic scenes and collaborative recitals at SFCM and Young Artist Programs such as Classic Lyric Arts, where she was a Legacy Grant Artist in 2025. Other productions include Die Zauberflöte (2nd Spirit), La bohème (Chorus/Ragazzi soloist), and The Old Maid and the Thief (Laetitia), along with multiple chorus roles in operas ranging from Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo to Jake Heggie’s If I Were You (Midwest premiere). An avid choral musician, Passer has held section leader and administrative positions in Chicagoland-based ensembles including Vox Venti (conducted by Ed Frazier Davis), the Bienen Contemporary/Early Vocal Ensemble (conducted by Donald Nally), and the Alice Millar Chapel Choir (conducted by Stephen Alltop), the last with which she sung on the recording of Stacy Garrop’s oratorio, "Terra Nostra," released in the spring of 2024. Passer received two undergraduate degrees–a Bachelor of Music in Voice/Opera and a Bachelor of Science in Education and Social Policy–in 4 and a half years from Northwestern University.
