Carrina Macaluso is a North Carolina-born mezzo-soprano pursuing a master’s degree in vocal performance and pedagogy at the University of Colorado Boulder, where she studies with Abigail Nims. Before arriving in Colorado, she earned her Bachelor of Music degree with distinction at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill under the guidance of Dr. Jeanne Fischer. On the opera stage, Macaluso has portrayed the roles of Ruth (The Pirates of Penzance), Der Sandmann (Hänsel und Gretel), Count Robinson (Il matrimonio segreto), Erineo (L’Erismena), Hansel (Hansel and Gretel), and Seneca (L’incoronazione di Poppea). This season, she will make her role debut as Mrs. De Rocher in Jake Heggie’s Dead Man Walking with Eklund Opera at CU Boulder.
