Casey Corvino is an American soprano and native Vermonter, who grew up singing amongst the Green Mountains. Her great love affair with music began with a focus in musical theatre, which led her to the competitive BFA program at Manhattanville College. It was here, under the tutelage of Ronald Cappon, that she was first introduced to classical vocal music. After three fulfilling semesters in the Musical Theatre program, Casey changed concentrations to Vocal Performance. During this time she had her first taste of opera through a German opera scenes program generously funded by the Country of Westchester. Little did she know what an impact it would make. With no other opportunities to experience opera while pursuing her bachelors, her fascination with chamber music and lieder led Casey to participate in the Manhattanville Women's Vocal Chamber Ensemble, the Manhattanville Chamber Music Ensemble, and then to the Interharmony International Chamber Festival in Grosseto, Italy for two consecutive summers as a featured soloist. She graduated Manhattanville as Castle Scholar, Second Place Winner of the 2015 Arlene Kaplan Competition, and recipient of the Brian Lethbridge Vocal Award for Outstanding Achievement. The following year, Casey participated in Westminster Choir College's Vienna: Language of Lieder program where she finally saw her first opera, Der Rosenkavalier, at the Staatsoper. Something clicked and, in a span of ten days, she rushed no less than six operas. She fell in love with the art form, and the city in which she finally found it. That fall she entered the Opera Institute at Rutgers University's Mason Gross School of the Arts for her Master of Music. Studying with Eduardo Chama, Casey sang a smattering of roles during her time at the Rutgers OI: Un Pâtre (L'enfant et sortilèges), Madame Lidoine (Dialogues des Carmélites), Leonore's cover (Fidelio), and the Countess (Le Nozze di Figaro), along with scenes of Elettra (Idomeneo). During this time, Casey also began a relationship with the Vienna Summer Music Festival. For their inaugural season, she sang Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni) with a staggering three different casts and returned the following summer to sing Mimì (La Bohème). Casey now studies with Dr Constance Rock out of UCONN. Since obtaining her Master, she has coordinated the inaugural festival of the Mountain Opera Company as Co-Creator and performed in their first production of Così fan tutte as Fiordiligi. Her other credits include singing scenes of Wagner's Das Rheingold as Woglinde with TUNDI Opera and First Lady (The Magic Flute) with Barn Opera. She now maintains a southern VT vocal studio looks forward to her next regional stint covering the Mother in Barn Opera’s Amahl and the Night Visitors this December.
