Céline Akçağ, born in Zurich/Switzerland, completed her Bachelor degree in opera, concert and vocal pedagogy (Hochschule für Musik Freiburg i.Br./DE, Prof. Dorothea Wirtz), an exchange semester at the Royal Academy of Music/LDN (Mary Nelson and Iain Ledingham), a Masters in Opera Singing (Theaterakademie August Everding/MUC, KS Prof. Andreas Schmidt), a Masters in Concert Singing (Hochschule für Musik und Theater München, KS Prof. Christiane Iven and Okka von der Damerau), as well as a Postgraduate Liedduo (Universität Mozarteum Salzburg, Prof. Pauliina Tukiainen).
Masterclasses with Vesselina Kasarova, Ian Bostridge, Alessandro De Marchi, Anne Le Bozec, Prof. Claudia Visca, Prof. Ulrike Sonntag, Tobias Kratzer, Gerd Uecker and Nadine Secunde complemented her education.
Céline was a finalist in the Anton Rubinstein International Competition in 2021. She won the study prize 2019 and 2020 of Migros Kulturprozent (CH), and is now part of the Migros Concert Agency. In 2019, she won the recognition prize at the International Competition Karlsruhe for Lied in the 20th and 21st century.
Her opera performances include Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro, Mozart) at the Saarländisches Staatstheater and at Theater Ulm, Dorabella (Così fan tutte, Mozart) at Theater Lüneburg, at Prinzregententheater Munich with the Münchener Kammerorchester and at Cuvilliés-Theater with the Kammeroper München, Boulotte (Barbe-bleue, Offenbach) at Theater Lüneburg, Geisterkind 1 (Coraline, Turnage) at Opernhaus Zürich, Sesto (Giulio Cesare, Händel) with the Bayerische Kammerphilharmonie, Carmen (La tragédie de Carmen, Bizet/Brook) at the Osterfestspiele Baden-Baden and the Kleine Berliner Philharmonie, Hänsel (Hänsel und Gretel, Humperdinck) at Kleines Haus Theater Freiburg, Soloist in the world premiere „The Murder Of Halit Yozgat“ (Ben Frost) at Staatsoper Hannover, Nancy (Martha, Flotow) and Giannetta (L'elisir d'amore, Donizetti) at Heubühne Zurich, as well as Glückskind (Der Teufel mit den drei goldenen Haaren, Hanke) and Vanina (L'Ancêtre, Saint-Saëns) at Prinzregententheater Munich with the Münchner Rundfunkorchester.
Since 2019, she belongs to the cast of the opera cabaret 'D.I.V.A' and is touring with them in France.
In the concert field, she sang the alto parts in 'Das Lied von der Erde' (Mahler) with the Lüneburger Symphoniker under the baton of Thomas Dorsch, 'Petite messe solennelle' (Rossini) conducted by Peter Marino, 'Chichester Psalms' (Bernstein) and 'Glagolitic Mass' (Janáček) at Herkulessaal Munich under the baton of Benedikt Haag, and 'The Messiah' (Händel) conducted by Martin Frey. On the CD recording of the baroque ensemble "La Banda" under the baton of Robert Mehlhart, she sings the alto solo of the Bach Cantata 147 (Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben).
She is very active in Lied since the beginning of her career. Her repertoire reaches from Haydn until Reimann, and creates various thematic programs in different formations.
