Join Gilbert & Sullivan Austin for a delightful afternoon of engaging music, delicious treats, and good company!
A salon concert in Victorian England was music for an evening at home with friends. An evening out meant taking in the symphony or the opera, but an evening in was no less musical. Society matrons would host a “salon,” inviting the most accomplished musicians to perform for their friends: songs for voice and piano from home composers and from the Continent. New songs as well as treasured classics, in a beautiful and intimate setting that Sir Arthur Sullivan himself would have frequented.
Pianist Karl Logue is joined by some of Austin’s finest singers to present this Tea Time event: A Victorian Music Salon.
Your ticket includes an English afternoon tea with finger sandwiches and Victorian sweets and savories, and beverages.such as tea, coffee, wine and more. This event requires reservations and has very limited seating.

Chantal Freeman
Chantal Gabrielle Freeman is a Haitian American soprano originally from Chicago, Illinois. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Music and Theology from Fordham University. Upon graduation she relocated to Philadelphia; studying with master vocal teacher Antonio Conte Pugliese. While there, Ms. Freeman performed with the Amici Opera Company, Main Line Opera Guild’s Concert Series and the Russian Opera Workshop as a studio artist. In 2018, she sang the role of Elle in La Voix Humaine by Francis Poulenc at Chicago Summer Opera. She subsequently received her Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the Butler School of Music of the University of Texas. As a member of the Butler Opera Center, she performed in Verdi’s Falstaff and Mozart’s La Clemenza di Tito. Also in Austin, she performed as Josephine in Gilbert and Sullivan’s HMS Pinafore.
Ms. Freeman’s accolades also include: Finalist in the 2019 NANM Marian Anderson Vocal Award Competition, 3rd place winner in the 2019 Harlem Opera Theater Vocal Competition, and Semi-Finalist with the 2020 Young Concert Artists in New York City.
Ms. Freeman has studied with acclaimed soprano, Ruth Falcon. Currently, she studies with Arthur Levy and coaches with Susan Caldwell in NYC. In May 2021, Ms. Freeman completed her Professional Studies Diploma at Mannes School of Music and was awarded the prestigious Richard F. Gold Career Grant by the Shoshana Foundation.
More recently, Ms. Freeman was a featured soloist with NY Choral Society in their Love in Action concert and with the Mannes Sounds Festival Finale at Carnegie Hall. In addition, she was a finalist for the Gerda Lissner International Vocal Competition and a semi-finalist with the Joy in Singing competition. Her recent opera engagements include the role of “Shannon” in Santa Fe Opera’s workshop of THE RIGHTEOUS.
Ms. Freeman is a versatile, thoughtful, and generous performer who works to continue to share her gift of music with audiences across the globe.
